An Announcement: 'Behind the Sun, Above the Moon.'

I'm very proud to announce that my story, The Far Touch, is going to be included in the upcoming anthology 'Behind the Sun, Above the Moon', curated by Brooklyn Ray and published by the lovely folk over at NineStar Press.

'Behind the Sun, Above the Moon' is a celebration of SFF centered around trans and non-binary identities, magic, and space, all written by own-voices authors like myself. It is a fantastic collection, and I am overwhelmed and delighted to see my work alongside such talented authors.

I can't wait for you all to read it!

'Behind the Sun, Above the Moon' can be pre-ordered now from NineStar Press.

Farewell 2018...

..the year in which I published my first book.  Now, that's a happy memory that's going to live with me forever!

And here it is- as I mentioned in my last post, I have taken delivery of a proof of 'Death's White Hands', and it is now available to buy as a real, actual, physical book!  And needless to say, I am immensely proud of it!

(And don't forget- you can get your own copy of Death's White Hands in either e-book or physical form from Amazon UKAmazon US, and the e-book is also available over on Smashwords!)

As well as the release of Death's White Hands, which has been amazing, this year has been something of an adventure.  I've moved house, adopted cats, found a day job, and survived working the holiday season in retail (something that I have no doubt I will use in a future book, because if you've never done it yourself, I can assure you that Christmas retail is a weird and fraught experience.)  I'm not entirely sorry that 2018 is ending, but after everything that has happened, I am looking forward to 2019 perhaps offering a bit more stability and familiarity.

So, what will the next year hold?

Well, my main news is that I have been invited to write for an anthology titled 'Behind the Sun, Above the Moon' organised and curated by the very talented Brooklyn Ray.  This will be an anthology of fiction of magical tales inspired by the universe, and I am incredibly honoured to be offered a place among its pages.  The anthology is not due for release until 2020, but I will keep you all updated, and in the meantime you can add it to your TBR on Goodreads if you want to (I know I have!!)

Beyond that, I do have a couple of projects that I am working on- a few manuscripts that I want to finish, and one that I feel would be better served by a complete re-write before I send it off for querying.  We'll see how that goes....

But for now, I just want to thank you all for helping me make this year the best year I could have hoped for as a new author- and to wish you all the best for 2019!

Release Day: Death's White Hands!!

If all has gone to plan, and the great unknown forces of the universe have aligned... then today is the day, and Death's White Hands should now be live!!

I really can't thank you all enough for helping me get to this day- all the kind messages and support has made a difficult journey so much more enjoyable than it would have been alone, and I really hope that you all enjoy the story that I have crafted for you.  Death's White Hands has been something of a labour of love, and even if it never hits the best seller lists (PLEASE help me hit the best seller lists!!) just knowing that it has been read and enjoyed will be reward enough.

You can download a copy of Death's White Hands from Amazon UKAmazon US, and also over on Smashwords!

But that's not all- I recently took delivery of something very special indeed.... a proof copy of the physical edition of the book!  I'll update more about that later, but if e-readers are not your thing, then don't despair- a paperback edition will be available soon, via the good folk at Kindle Direct Publishing.

But for now at least, please enjoy Death's White Hands!  And feel free to leave a review, too, if you have the time. ;)

Wow, time flies!! And tomorrow is a pretty big deal for me- the long-awaited (for me, at least!) release of my first ever full length novel!

That's right- just one short night separates us from release day!  I am so excited about this, and I really can't wait to share this book with you all!

As a reminder, you can get the book from Amazon UK, Amazon US, and also over on Smashwords.  And yes- you can still pick up my two free short stories there too, and they will remain free, too.  A few people have asked me if I'm going to take them down, or start charging for them, and no, I'm not.  They were a gift to all my lovely readers, and I feel like removing them would be unfair to those who might come into the series later on.

And yes, I did say 'series'... but let's take this one book at a time!!

Exciting News: Death's White Hands is Available for Pre-Order!

Hi folks!

I know it's been a while, and I apologise for that.  I have been super busy, doing all sorts of things from moving house to doing ill-advised fun-runs while dressed as certain, slug-like Star Wars characters... and as it happens, also forgetting my log-in details for this blog, which I hope I have now finally committed fully to memory.

But, life goes on, and so does the wonderful world of writing! While I haven't been posting here as much as I aught to, I have been very busy, finalising details for the e-book version of Death's White Hands!

As a result, you can now pre-order the e-book from Amazon US and Amazon UK, and also from Smashwords.  The release date is October 31st- not just my favourite day of the year, but also a full one year after I released The Corpseriders (which along with Mari's Dance is still available for free if you'd like to grab them!)

And that's not all- there are more exciting things in the works, so do keep checking back and I promise- I really, really promise- that I will do better at keeping you all updated in the future!

Update on the 'Death's White Hands' Kickstarter: End of the campaign, but not the end of the story.

So, the Kickstarter campaign is over, and sadly the target amount needed to make a physical copy of 'Death's White Hands' wasn't reached.  This was always a risk, and while it's disappointing for everybody who pledged and took part, we have a lot to be proud of here: in total, over £1000 was pledged to bring this book to life!  In addition, downloads of the free short stories 'The Corpseriders' and 'Mari's Dance' have continued steadily, and both remain 5 star rated on Amazon.

So, to begin with, I would just like to say a huge and sincere thank you to everybody who pledged, and everybody who has sent me complimentary messages and encouragement since the Kickstarter began.  There can be no greater compliment for an author than knowing that people want to read your work- and believe me, 'Death's White Hands' will still be published.  As to the details of when and how... well, I will keep you all updated! 😉

So, what happens now?
I am investigating other avenues for publication.  I still very much want to offer a physical copy of the book, but I also want to make sure that it is good quality and affordable, which means I'm not going to jump on to the first option that presents itself.  I am already researching some possibilities, and as soon as I have something to report, I will let you all know!  In the meantime, I am pleased to announce that I have been asked to help judge this year's Queer Sci-Fi flash fiction contest- so if you'd like to find out more, click here and take a look!  This year's theme is 'Impact', and we're excited to see what people come up with!

So again, huge thanks to you all for bringing the campaign this far- and here's to the future!  I have no doubt that great things are on the horizon.

World Book Day!

Today is World Book Day, which is one of my favourite days of the year!  It also seemed like a good time to post an update about the Kickstarter for 'Death's White Hands', and talk a little bit about what I am up to at the moment.

At present, the campaign to self-publish a physical copy of 'Death's White Hands' is 16% funded- which is amazing!  There are still 8 days left of the campaign, which may not seem like long, but I am hoping that it is long enough for the target to be reached.  Downloads of the introductory short stories have rocketed since the campaign started (and both have earned 5 star reviews on Amazon!), and it's my hope that some of the people who have tried them will come back to make pledges.

Whatever happens, though, I'd like to take this chance to thank everybody who has pitched in, whether it be with a pledge or a like or a share.  There is nothing more terrifying for a writer (or anybody, actually) than putting themselves and there work out there to be seen, and your support and well-wishes have made it all worth it.  No matter what happens, 'Death's White Hands' will end up being published- that I can promise.  It really is a matter of 'when' and 'how', rather than 'if.'

So... what else is new right now?

Other than having a stinking cold (who doesn't at the moment?), I have started work on the second novel in the 'Aegis Immemorial' series, and am currently working on a short story that will be included in an upcoming anthology!  Details of that will be released a little closer to the time, but needless to say, I'm very excited about it!  I've also been doing a lot of reading, and am planning to do some book reviews here on my blog over the next couple of months.  Despite being a horror/fantasy writer myself, I have a wide range of tastes when it comes to reading, so if you have a book you'd like me to check out and review, please drop me a note and let me know!

Death's White Hands: Cover Reveal!!

Halloween is here, and surely there's no better time to show off the brand new cover for Death's White Hands: A Tale of Aegis Immemo...
